Estimate the zakat due on your zakatable wealth. Enter your assets, short-term debts and the current nisab value.

This is a simple estimate for general guidance. Rulings differ between schools and situations. Please confirm with a qualified scholar or your zakat authority.

How to use the zakat calculator

  1. Enter your cash, gold and silver, investments and business assets.
  2. Enter any debts that are due now.
  3. Enter the current nisab value, then press Calculate zakat.

How it works

Zakat is generally due at 2.5% on net zakatable wealth that has been held for a full lunar year and is at or above the nisab. Nisab is commonly based on 85 grams of gold or 595 grams of silver, so its value changes with market prices. Check today's value and enter it in your own currency.

The calculator subtracts the debts due now from your total assets. If the result is below the nisab, no zakat is shown as due. Otherwise it multiplies the net amount by 2.5%.

Example

Total assets of 105,000 minus 5,000 of debts due gives net wealth of 100,000. If the nisab is 25,000, zakat is 2.5% of 100,000 = 2,500.

Frequently asked questions

What is nisab?

Nisab is the minimum amount of wealth above which zakat becomes due, commonly measured as 85 grams of gold or 595 grams of silver.

Why do I have to enter the nisab myself?

Gold and silver prices change daily, so the nisab value changes too. Entering the current value keeps your result accurate.

Is this a religious ruling?

No. It is a calculation aid. Consult a qualified scholar for your specific situation.
