How to use the committee wheel
- Type or paste the member names, one per line. They appear on the wheel straight away.
- Press Spin the wheel. The wheel turns and stops at one member, who is shown as the winner.
- Spin again for the next payout month. Each winner is removed from the wheel and added to the winners list. Optionally choose the first payout month to see the month beside each winner, and copy the list to share it.
How it works
In a committee every member pays in each period and one member receives the pool. The wheel decides who receives it. All members who have not yet received the pool are shown on the wheel, and each has exactly the same chance.
The winner is chosen with your browser's secure random number generator at the moment you press Spin, and the wheel then animates to land on that member, so the animation cannot favour anyone. Winners are taken off the wheel, so the same person cannot win twice in one cycle. Duplicate names are removed, so add an initial or surname if two members share a name.
Example
With 10 members, each person has a 1 in 10 chance on the first spin. After the first winner is removed, the other 9 members have a 1 in 9 chance on the second spin, and so on. If the first payout month is November 2026, the winners are listed as November 2026, December 2026 and so on until all 10 members have been paid.
