How to use the calculator
- Type a number with the buttons or your keyboard.
- Press an operation: + − × or ÷, then type the next number.
- Press = to see the result. You can keep going by pressing another operation.
How it works
This works like a standard pocket calculator: each operation is carried out as soon as you press the next one, from left to right. So 2 + 3 × 4 gives 20. For the usual maths order (multiplication first), press 3 × 4 = first, then add 2 to get 14.
The % key adds or subtracts a percentage of the first number when used after + or −. After × or ÷, or on its own, it divides by 100. Results are rounded to 12 significant digits, so 0.1 + 0.2 correctly shows 0.3.
Keyboard shortcuts
Numbers and . to type, + − * / for operations, Enter or = for the result, Backspace to delete a digit, Escape to clear.
Example
A bill of 200 with a 10% tip: press 200 + 10 % = and the answer is 220. Splitting that between 4 people: press ÷ 4 = for 55 each.
